Gertrud “Trudy” France

Gertrud (Trudy) P. France, 84, of Wirtz, VA went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Runk & Pratt Senior Living Memory Care. She was born and raised in Mannheim, West Germany, daughter of Otto and Paula Schenkel. She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Ceylon France, first born child, Bobby and her parents.

Trudy met and married Ceylon when he was stationed at a naval base in Germany near her home town. They returned to America together in 1953. She was a devoted housewife for 62 years and loved her family more than life itself.

Trudy is survived by her daughters Lorraine (Lorry) Conklin and her husband Kevin, Barbara Prillaman, and Tammy Lee; grandchildren, Mya Conklin, Lissa Alley, Michael Lee and Hope Lee; and lifelong friend, Hella Gough.

Memorial services have been postponed for a later date at New Hope Christian Church, 4229 Welcome Valley Road, Roanoke, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Condolences may be expressed at www.florafuneralservice.com. Graveside services will follow at a later time in Lisbon, New York.
