Gertrude Hodges Prater

Gertrude Hodges Prater, age 78 of Rocky Mount died Tuesday, January 18, 2011. She was born January 13, 1933 a daughter of the late Cover and Nannie Pearl Hodges. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Irene McGuire. She was retired from E.I DuPont and was a member of Henry Fork Church of the Brethren. She loved little children and always took time to acknowledge them. Surviving are her children, Sandra Scott and Freddie Lynch; grandchildren, Greg and Chasity Scott, Bridgett Lynch Moore, Bradley Lynch; great-grandchildren, Aaron Scott and Nick Lowrey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Edith Wray, Louise Lynch, Nannie Holland, Peggy Hawks, Joyce Hudson, Elizabeth and Blane Holcomb, Maxine and Wayne Weeks, Brenda and Wray Furrow; brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Sylvia Hodges. Funeral services will be conducted from Henry Fork Church of the Brethren 2 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in the Hodges – Lynch Family Cemetery. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Henry Fork Church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
