Gilford Randolph Hatchett

Gilford Randolph Hatchett, age 80 of Penhook, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016. He was a life-time carpenter and farmer and was a life-long member of Forrest Hill Christian Church, where he served as Deacon and Treasurer over 40 years. He was born February 26, 1936, a son of the late Henry Taylor Hatchett and Mattie Palmer Hatchett and was the last surviving child. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Hatchett Riggs, siblings, Giles, Talmadge and Robert Hatchett and sister Emmaleen Scott. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Mildred Ferguson Hatchett, children, Rodney Hatchett (Cindy), Brenda H. Bowman and Randy Hatchett (Lynn), son-in-law, Barry Riggs, grandchildren, Shannon, Janette (Brad), Jaclyn (Joe), Jason, Amy (Joe), Charlotte, Kari (Stonewall), Victoria, Eddie and Casey, two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Catelynn, in-laws, Marie Hatchett, Marie Ferguson, Ray Ferguson (Betsy), James Ferguson (Joyce), Glenn Ferguson (Mary Ann), many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Forrest Hill Christian Church, 13181 Snow Creek Road, Penhook, VA 24137. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Forrest Hill Christian Church with Ministers Wayne Keith and Lee Ashley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
