Gladys F. Haywood, age 63 of Ferrum, went to be with her Lord and husband on Tuesday April 10, 2007.

She was born on March 11, 1944 a daughter of the late Walter Howard and Lou Emma Greer Ferguson. She was also preceded in death by her husband O. R. (Rudy) Haywood; step-mother, Ruth Ferguson; mother-in-law, Janie H. Ball; sister, Elsie Arrington; brothers, George W. Ferguson, Jack J. Arrington; sisters-in-law, Ellie Arrington, Helen Smith.

Mrs. Haywood is survived by her children and their spouses, Tina M. and Benjamin W. Hartman, Sr., Rena A. and Norman L. Muscat, Sr., Jesse B. III and Kelly Anderson, grandchildren, Benjamin W. Hartman, Jr., Ashley L. Hartman, Aleena M. Swift, Frank R. Muscat, Anthony L. Muscat, Jessica A. Muscat and Abigail G. Anderson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sally McGuire, Shirley and Joe Stie, Carolyn and Cline Hodges, Geneva L. and Dan Hodges; brothers and sisters-in-law, H. L. (Tig) and Frances Arrington; Buddy (Seaboy) Arrington; Howard C. and Geraldine Ferguson; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew Lee Arrington; special friends, Jearl and Kitty Young, Iris and Jerry Johnson and Louise Young; special relatives Margaret and Barry English; her family pet, Cassie.

Gladys was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a very special sister. She was a true example of a living Angel and gave to all equally…she was a very spirited lady!

Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Kendell Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Her family will be receiving friends Friday from 5 – 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
