Gladys Webb Richards

Gladys Webb Richards, of Rocky Mount, wife of John W. “Billy” Richards, died Tuesday night, July 15, 2008 at home after a long bout of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Born in Inez, KY February 10, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Rebecca Stepp Webb. She was a retired employee of General Motors Fisher Body Division in Columbus, OH. She was presently a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women in Rocky Mount. Surviving are her husband John W. “Billy” Richards; son James Carroll Kirk of Grove City, OH; daughter Sandra Lee (Bill) Cohn of Bexley, OH; son Lieutenant Commander (Retired) Shelby Ray (Eileen) Kirk of Mobile, AL; several grandchildren; and a host of nieces , nephews and friends. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2008 with her family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main St, Rocky Mount. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church on Ruritan Rd., Rocky Mount, with Rev. Elizabeth Lazenby officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be given to Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, c/o Corvin and Angie Weddle 2300 McNeil Mill Rd., Rocky Mount, VA 24151. Arrangements are under the direction of Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.
