Gladys Boone Sink

Gladys Marie Altice Boone Sink, age 90 of Boones Mill passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014. Gladys was a daughter of John Silas and Mary (Perdue) Altice, born March 18, 1923 in Franklin County, VA. She was married July 2, 1941 to John Chesley Boone also of Franklin County. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, her brother, Levi Altice, three sisters, Reva Thurman, Haseltine Hudson and Gillie Johnson, two great-grandchildren, Chase Corbitt Burnett and infant Ella Sophia Spencer. Surviving are a son, Randy Boone (Elva), three daughters, Rita Corbitt (Bill), Mary Mullineaux (John), and Kathy Spencer West, 12 grandchildren, Bob Corbitt, Yvette Corbitt Burnett, Jennie Boone Jamison, Erlene Boone Bowman, John Boone, Daniel Boone, Devin Spencer, Chesley Spencer, Jay Mullineaux, Erin Mullineaux Farrugia, Loren Boone, Caleb Boone, 30 great-grandchildren, and her dear sister, Velma Montgomery. Mom and Dad shared their joys and sorrows for over 38 years. Dad passed away on February 6, 1980. Mom married Roy D. Sink, November 17, 1984 and they made their home in Covington, OH. With this union came three step-children, Roy D. Sink, Jr. (Nancy), Rita Flora (Wayne), and Carol Brubaker (Randy), 12 step-grandchildren and many step great-grandchildren. Roy passed away March 15, 2001. Months later she returned to Franklin County. Mom was an avid reader. She read the Bible through several times the last being the end of 2013. She read God?s word daily. She loved gardening, working with her flowers, quilting and sewing. She was a faithful member of Oak Hill Old German Baptist Brethren Church and attended services as her health allowed. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. The family will receive friends 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Old German Baptist Brethren Church where services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
