Glen Davis Cooper, 80, of Wirtz, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, while being surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Callaway, VA, on December 8, 1931, son of Thomas Creed Cooper and Elizabeth Pope Bridges Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, four sisters, granddaughter, Carrie Leigh Spencer, and great grandson Brendyn Gregory Holland. Those left to cherish is memory are the one true love of his life and the mother of his children Margaret Ann Young Cooper; his six children, Shelia Dean Cooper Midkiff and husband Rick, Thomas Stacey Cooper and wife Sandy, Theresa Kay (Sissy) Cooper, Debra Lynne Cooper Spencer and husband Garry, Tracey Glen Cooper and wife Tracie, Candice Dawn Cooper and fiancé Steve Schroeder; six grandchildren Thomas Keith Cooper and wife Michael, Warren Gregory Holland, Christopher Blane Cooper and wife Brittany, Shane Jordan Cooper and wife Kym, Caitlin Taylor Spencer, Spencer Creed Cooper; three great grandchildren Kylie Anne Cooper, Kennedy Lynn Cooper, Camden Shane Cooper; sister Ruby Donavan of Powhatan, VA; numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Glen was a proud Veteran of the Korean War and loved his family, God and his Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at Flora Funeral Home in Rocky Mount, VA, with the Rev Denver Turner and the Rev David Long officiating. Interment will be held at the Cooper Cemetery in Callaway, VA. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2012, at Flora Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations may be made in his name to Disabled American Veterans at DAV Memorial Program, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301, online at www.dav.org/donate/memorialhonorarygifts.aspx or call 1-877-426-2838 ext. 1340.
