Glenn W. Rakes

Glenn W. Rakes, age 96 of Rocky Mount passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025. Glenn was born July 23, 1929, a son of the late John Marshall Rakes and Annie Cannaday Rakes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, George Rakes, Luther Rakes and Jake Rakes; sisters, Carrie Rakes Thomason, Lucy Rakes Nichols, Carlene Rakes Robertson and Mae Rakes Holley. Surviving are his brother, Thomas Rakes; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Franklin Health and Rehab and Hospice for their care and concern. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2025 with Rev. Bud Nichols officiating. Interment will be private in the Ferguson-Rakes Cemetery in Ferrum. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
