Grace Fauber Young, age 79 of Ferrum, passed away Saturday March 29, 2008. Mrs. Young was retired from nursing, a field of work that seemed perfect for her as she loved caring for people. She had worked for the Jefferson Clinic and Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital for many years. Grace loved the outdoors, where she enjoyed feeding the birds, gardening and fishing. She was also passionate about her cooking and music. Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her parents Claude Raymond Fauber, Sr. and Helen Landers Campbell; husband James Leslie Young; brother Claude Raymond “Ray” Fauber, Jr.; and sister Carolyn Rodriquez. Surviving are her children Thomas D. Young, Joseph L. Young, Jamie Y. Johnson and husband Charles, and Stephen Young (who was not only a son but her best friend and caregiver to the end); four grandchildren Stephanie McDaniel and husband Joe, Adrian Carter, Alicia Grace Young and fiancé Donovan Dudley, T.J. Young; two great-grandchildren David Ethan Carter and Karlie Mae Young; sister Martha Conner and husband Henry; numerous other friends and family. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Professional Park One, 4502 Starkey Road, SW #107, Roanoke, VA 24018 or to a charity of choice. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2:00 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. Her family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.
