Grover Randolph Plybon, age 98 of Rocky Mount died Monday, July 29, 2013. He was born April 20, 1915 a son of the late Elder Posey and Ella Brown Plybon. He was also preceded in death by his wives, Esther F. Plybon and Etta Arrington Plybon; brothers and sisters, Daniel Plybon, Mary P. Perdue, Ethel P. Thurman, Lura P. Pagans. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Herman C. and Betty P. Plybon of Peachtree City, GA; grandchildren, Mona P. Vollenweider and husband William of Woodstock, GA, Kim P. Turkiewicz and husband Tommy of Peachtree City, GA; great-grandchildren, Charlie, Cathy, Chip and Carolyn Vollenweider, Luke, Graci and Mallory Turkiewicz, step-children and spouses, Patricia and Jimmy Altice, Connie and Garrett Hodges, Bonnie and Paul Smith, Janice and Russell Perdue, William and Sandra Turner, Glenn and Janet Turner, several step-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, Silas Plybon and wife Frances of Rocky Mount, Calvin Plybon and wife Juanita of Hardy; sister, Nellie P. Booth of Hardy, several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Lou Lynch, Beverly Rutter and Carilion Hospice of Franklin County for their care. Mr. Plybon retired from Burlington Industries with 39 years of service. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Thursday with Elder Mark Terry and Elder Marvin Brumfield officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount and other times at the home of Silas and Frances Plybon 120 Vantage Road, Rocky Mount.
