Harry Lindbergh Arrington, 80, of Rocky Mount, passed away Thursday, February 28th at his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lou Emma Ferguson and Walter H. Ferguson, brothers George Ferguson and Jack Arrington, sisters Elsie Arrington, Gladys Haywood and step-mother Ruth Ferguson.

Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Frances L. Arrington, son Dickie Arrington, son Noel Arrington, and son and daughter-in-law Paul and Jenny Arrington and step-son and wife Ricky and Kathy Matthews. Also surviving are brothers and sisters Seaboy (Buddy) Arrington, Howard Ferguson, Sally Robertson, Shirley Stie, Carolyn Hodges, and Geneva Hodges. Grandchildren, Jennifer Corbin and husband Chris, Richard Arrington, Justin Arrington, Samuel Arrington, Mac Arrington, Chad Arrington, Kelly Arrington and Heather M. Anderson and husband Eric.

Harry served his country in the US Army in WWII. He was retired from GE in Salem. Harry took great pride in his family, gardening, cultivating fruit trees, hunting ginseng and just about anything to do with the outdoors. He loved reading about current events, history, and creating and building things out of wood. Harry sang in the Sandy Ridge Baptist choir for over 40 years.

Funeral Services will be conducted from Sandy Ridge Baptist Church on Monday, March 3rd at 2 pm with Pastor Joe Dillon officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.

His family will be receiving friends from 6-8 pm on Sunday at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church, 1444 Bonbrook Mill Road, Rocky Mount, VA 24151.

Memorial contributions may be made in Harry’s honor to the Sandy Ridge Baptist Choir Fund.
