Harry William Weiss, Sr.

Harry William Weiss, Sr., age 89 of Ferrum died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at his home. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a 20 year veteran of the United States Navy and was preceded in death by his parents, Isabelle and Fredrick Weiss; sister, Margaret O’linick; and daughter, Patricia Sisson. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Weiss who would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on February 7, 2012; son and daughter-in-law, Harry W. Weiss, Jr. and wife Debbie; daughters and sons-in-law, Joan T. Miles and husband Carl, Suzanne D. Barron and husband Ken; grandchildren, Michael Weiss, Amanda Weiss Kelly, Sean Pike, Carrie Pike, Kenny Barron and Abby Barron; great-grandchildren, Zachary Weiss, Austin Weiss, Nora Kelly and Andrew Kelly; and sister, Isabelle Kmiec. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at Francis of Assisi Catholic Church 1 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012 with Father Mark White officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Franklin Memorial Park Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Carilion Hospice of Franklin County, 390 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. His family will receive friends 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
