Haschel Level (Sonny) Capps, 82, went to be with the Lord Saturday, February 3rd, 2018. The son of H.L. and Hazel Capps, he was born in Arkansas. He is a Navy Veteran and retired from the Chesapeake Police Department after 25 years. After retirement, he and his wife relocated to Smith Mountain Lake in Southwest VA, where they lived for 27 years. He was a founding member of The B.U.B.B.A.S. of Union Hall, a community organization focused on charity work in the Union Hall and Glade Hill areas of Franklin County VA. He is survived and will always be loved by his wife of 57 years, Irene; his three children, Richard Capps (Jean), Deborah Capps, Janice Quick; his grandson, Joshua Quick; step grandchildren, Caleb Flora and Patricia Flora. He will be missed by his brother and sister, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Memorial services will be conducted at the Union Hall Campus of Franklin Heights Church, 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2018 with Pastor Mark Griffith officiating. His family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. His family request in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 915, Rocky Mount, VA 24151 or The Glade Hill Rescue Squad, 1488 Franklin Street, Rocky Mount VA 24151.
