Hazel Young Burgess

Hazel Young Burgess, 87, of Boones Mill was born April 6, 1928 and passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond R. Burgess; parents, Milton and Una Young; sisters, Gladys Y. Bussey and Ruth Y. Austin; brother Buford T. Young; brothers-in-law, Everett Burgess and Paul Bussey; niece, Geralene Burgess; nephew, Brian Austin. Hazel is survived by her sister, Myrtle Burgess; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Etta Mae Young, David and Juanita Young; brother-in-law, Buren Austin; several nieces and nephews. Hazel was a member of Fairview Church of the Brethren where she attended faithfully until her health no longer permitted. She spent her employment at N & W Industries and Virginia Apparel Corp. where she took early retirement in order to take care of her ailing husband. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Mountain View Memorial Park at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Wray officiating. The family requests no food and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fairview Church of the Brethren Building Fund, in care of Thomas Young, 60 Belmont Drive, Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
