Hazel Deal Greer, born March 10, 1928, daughter of Richard Abram and Sally Witt Deal, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at her home, surround by her family.
She died from complications related to Multiple Myeloma.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 55 years, Woodrow C. Greer, and their son, Woody Greer, Jr.; brothers, Harvey, Walter and Ernest Deal of Roanoke, and Charlie Deal of Martinsville; sisters, Lucy Law of Roanoke and Ocie Greer of Rocky Mount.
She and her husband owned and operated Greer Gun Company for over 45 years. She was a member of the Shepherd’s Chapel.
She is survived by her daughters, Rretta and Dana of Rocky Mount; one brother, Morton Deal of Las Vagas; brother-in-law and wife Leon and Jean Greer of Rocky Mount; sister-in-law, Cynthia Greer of Roanoke; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Arlene Snodgrass of Troutville.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will follow in the Greer Family Cemetery.
The family wants to thank the cancer unit at Carilion Roanoke Memorial and especially Robert for all his kindness.
