H.D. Ingram, 93, of Henry, Va., formerly of Ingramville community, Ferrum, Va., passed away August 8, 2015.
He was born in Franklin County to the late Walter Grover and Fannie Sue Meadors Ingram Mullins on November 8, 1921. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Rena Lou Via Ingram on June 3, 2006; two brothers; Buford Ingram and Grady Ingram; sister Estelle Jones, and granddaughter Nellie Len Ingram.
He is survived by two daughters and son-in-law; Brenda Sue Tatum, her son Robby Tatum and wife Renee, their children Benjamin and Ashley Tatum; Arlene Ingram and husband Ronald, their son Allan Ingram and wife Renea, their children Allana, Jacob, and Anna; their son Daniel Ingram and wife Katherine, their children Abel, Eli, Isaac, and Caleb; their son Ronald (Joe) Ingram; their son Neal Ingram and wife Karsey, their daughter Ryley. He was also survived by one niece and one nephew. He was a member of Union Primitive Baptist Church where he had been a member since 1972, he was an ordained Deacon, church clerk for 26 years, served as treasurer of the cemetery fund, caretaker of the church for several years and served on the board of trustees. He also served on the financial committee of the Smith River Association. He loved his church and attended as regularly as possible. He also served on the board of directors at First National Bank of Ferrum. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in WWII in the African and European Campaign, where he was awarded several medals. He has been a member of the American Legion Post #6 for 63 years. He drove a transfer truck for 22 years before retiring. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Union Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Mark Terry, Elder Junior Conner and Elder Larry Hollandsworth officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount, Interment with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends and family at the home of Ronald and Arlene Ingram at 525 Knob Church Rd. Henry, Virginia. Memorial contributions may be made to Union Primitive Baptist Church.
