Helen G. Radford Shively, 86, of Ferrum, went home to be with her Heavenly Father, March 14, 2013, while at her daughter’s home. Mrs. Shively was preceded in death by her parents, Eslie and Ellen Gillispie; brothers, Euell, Roy and Herman Gillispie; sister, Marie Shelton and infant sister, Lera Gillispie; her first husband, Mowyer Radford; her second husband, Murphy Shively. Surviving is her only child, Lovviner Radford (Dub) Scott, Ferrum; one granddaughter, Candace Scott (Jonathan) Friel and great grandson, Henry Wyatt Friel, Winston-Salem, NC; sister, Viola Rutledge, Eden, NC; brother, Glenn (Mary) Gillispie, Bassett; sister-in-law, Harritt Gillispie; many special nieces and nephews. Mrs. Shively will always be remembered as a humble woman, her compassion for others and her love of her Lord shown through each day of her life. The family would like to thank all those who helped Mrs. Shively enjoy a wonderful quality of life, in her last few years especially, the caring and doting nurses and staff at Franklin Health & Rehab; caregiver Pat Adkins, Pastor Winston Crichlow, Dr. Billy Shively, Rev. Bud Nichols; faithful friends, Carl Scott, Marlin Friel and Carilion Hospice, especially Cindy, Karen T., Kitty and Karen P. Flowers accepted, or in lieu there of, donations made to Maple Grove United Methodist. Funeral Services will be conducted from Maple Grove United Methodist Church 3:00 p.m. Sunday with Dr. Billy Shively officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
