Helen Cooper Thomason

Helen Cooper Thomason, 82 of Rocky Mount, Va. went home to her Lord on April 11, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband Billy E. Thomason, her parents, four brothers and one sister. Helen is survived by a daughter Debbie Finnegan, and son and daughter-in-law Ricky and Susan Thomason; three special grandsons Sean Finnegan, Ryan Thomason and wife Jessica and Lucas Thomason; one special great grand-daughter Makenzie Thomason; sisters-in-law Sara Cooper and Norma Cooper; brothers-in-law Bobby Thomason and wife Martha, Marvin Thomason and wife Barbara and Glen Stevens; several loving nieces and nephews; very special friends Shirley Wood and JoEmma Houston and many friends and neighbors. She was a former owner of Turner?s Ready Mix, Inc. Helen was a long time member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church. Helen was a loving and caring wife to her husband of 42 years. Helen cherished her children and grandchildren and gave so much of herself to help others. She enjoyed reading, bird watching and shooing away the squirrels and especially watching her grandsons in their sport events. She is going to be sadly missed by her family, friends and all whose lives she touched. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Long officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to her favorite charities, the American Cancer Society or MS Society.
