Henry Leonard Beckner

Henry Leonard Beckner “Pop”, age 79 of Ferrum passed away Friday, November 4, 2011 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Buford and Stella Harris Beckner; brother, Raymond Beckner; sisters, Mavis Laprade, Alice McGuire and Judy Young; half sister, Doris; and half brother, Charles. Leonard was a United States Air Force Veteran. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Cooper Beckner; his wonderful sons, James Franklin Beckner and Bobby Leon Beckner; his one and only grandchild who he cherished dearly, Jesse Leon Beckner and fiancé Candice Setney; two great-grandchildren, Carter Leon Beckner and Owen Riley Beckner; brothers, Robert Bud Beckner (Patsy) and Dewey Beckner; sister, Elizabeth “Becky” Sink (Jimmy); sisters-in-law, Ruby Lynch and Nancy Amos (JC); brothers–in-law, Wayne Cooper (Margie) and Donnie Cooper (Sue); a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends and neighbors, Tim and Ruby Harris and Edward and Frances Allen. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Monday with Pastor Roger Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Flint Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
