Henry Harvey Beckner

Henry Harvey Beckner, 93, of Boones Mill, VA died Wednesday, June 29, 2016. He was born on March 22, 1923, in Callaway, VA. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Addie Melvie Shilling Beckner on January 1, 2013; his parents, David Claude and Laura Belle Yopp Beckner; his sisters, Daisy Beckner, Helen Hopkins, Florence Thacker, Ruth Merriman, Elaine Dawson; his brothers, Walter, Claude "Bud", and Rufus Beckner. Surviving are his children and their spouses, Linda Clemons (Wayne) of Boones Mill, Douglas Beckner (Stephanie) of Forest, and Gay Bowling (James) of Richmond. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, Cindy Traylor (Robert), Gregory Clemons (Dawn), Allen Beckner (Honey), Albert Beckner, Melissa Walker (John), Elliot Beckner (Adriana), Steven Beckner (Candace) and Sara Bowling Feller (Scott); 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Quinn of Danville and Shirley Wilborne of Ringold; and many nieces and nephews. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp before serving in Headquarters Company, 2D Battalion, 134th Infantry of the U. S. Army during World War II. Special thanks to the Doctors at Salem VA Medical Center, Team Nurse of Rocky Mount for personal care while at home, the VA Veterans Care Center of Salem, and for the past few months Blue Ridge Therapy Connection of Stuart. Funeral service will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2016 with Rev. James H. Steele officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
