Hensil Vernon Hodges

Hensil Vernon Hodges, age 78 of Rocky Mount died Sunday, March 5, 2017. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Doctor Peter and Sallie Hunt Hodges; brothers, Raymond, George, James, Edgar, and Lenford; and sister, Clarice. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Martha Jane Hodges; five children, Deborah (Dee) Brown, Patty Turner (friend, David), Mike Hodges, Toby Hodges (friend, Debbie), Kenny Hodges (wife, Cindy); 11 grandchildren, Joey (Summer), Melody (Nathan), Amanda, Keith (Lindsay), Dustin (Stephanie), Dustin Lee, Erin (Jason), Tonya (Clint), Katie, Ashley (Caleb), Joshua; eight great-grandchildren, Marcus, Austin, Hunter, Layla, Scharlie, Liberty, Avaya, Arya; pet, Charlie the Rooster; sister, Hazel Lumpkins; other special nephews, Ronnie Hodges and Kenny Caldwell; other special friends and family. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Randy Sawyers officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Red Valley Rescue Squad, 2885 Jubal Early Highway, Boones Mill, Virginia 24065. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
