Herbert Eugene Carter

Herbert Eugene Carter, age 81 of Rocky Mount died Tuesday, December 30, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lucille Carter; son, Paul Edward Carter; brother and sister, Nancy Dunn and Marks Carter. Surviving are his wife, Janet Carter; daughter, Donna (Kenny) Ferguson; grandchildren, Shawn Paul Ferguson and Trenton Carter Ferguson; great-granddaughter, Kaileah Ferguson; step-grandchildren, Kevin Ferguson and Kerry Ferguson; brother and sisters, W.D. Carter, Zoe Johnson, and Martha Anderson. Mr. Carter was a United States Air Force Veteran serving during the Vietnam Era. He was also an active member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed attending his grandchildren?s sporting events. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pleasant Hill UMC, c/o Angie Weddle, 2300 McNeil Mill Road, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151. Memorial services will be conducted at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Gus Segovia, Rev. Liz Lazenby and Rev. Larry Mann officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
