Herman Dewitt Altice

Herman Dewitt Altice, age 86 of Rocky Mount passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012 at his home surround by his family. Mr. Altice was born on June 21, 1926 to the late James Edward Altice and Mary Katherine Altice. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marie Altice; brothers, Wilford Altice and Alvin Altice; and sister, Ocie Grogan. Herman served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired from J.P. Stevens with many years of service. Surviving are his only son, Danny Altice and wife Vickie; two grandsons, John Altice and wife Leigh, Jeffrey Altice; one sister, May Meador; a number of nieces and nephews; and special pet, Chester. A special thanks to all the Doctors and Nurses at the Salem VA Medical Center and the Amedisys Hospice Care including Jennifer, Julie, Cindy, Sarah and Chaplain Troy Mays. Graveside services will be conducted from Mountain View Memorial Park 2 p.m. Sunday with Pastor Jerry Naff officiating. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
