Herman J. Chaney went to be with the Lord on February 8, 2018. He was born on February 17, 1947 in Eastwood, KY. He is preceded in death by his parents, Morgan and Edith Chaney; brothers, Richard (Dick), Harold, Carl, and Tracy Chaney. He is survived by his wife, Rose Chaney; brothers and sister-in-law, Ray (Margie), Paul (Bonnie), Morgan (Patty), and Bill Chaney; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth Lane (Ivan), Cathy Metz, Annie Chaney, George (Sue) Cundiff, Jr., Brenda (Larry)Nichols, Virginia Spradlin, Mike (Tammy) Cundiff, Bonnie (Alan) Barnett, Sherry (Wayne) Patterson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins on both sides of the family. He was a member of VFW Obie D. Minter Post 10840 (Penhook, VA), American Legion Post 6 (Rocky Mount), Isaacs Lodge 29 (Boones Mill, VA). He was currently Post Commander of VFW Post 10840 and District Recruiter for the VFW 5 th District. He was a member of Boones Mill Baptist Church where he served on several committees. He leaves behind a myriad number of people who will miss him greatly. He will be missed on the Rise and Shine (Dick Shoemaker) cable 12 in Rocky Mount where he made a number of appearances in promoting different causes within the county. Services will be held Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Flora Funeral Service with Rev. Jim Steele officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 14 at Flora Funeral Service. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
