Houston Nuckols Snoddy, age 90 of Burnt Chimney, passed away April 11, 2024 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, B. F. and Marguerite Snoddy, and his sister, Wealthy Johnson Snoddy. Survivors include his wife, Berta Mae; his children, Amanda Brewster and her husband David Gray of Huddleston; Bennett Snoddy of Cornelius, N.C.; and Alice Perdue and her husband Nathan of Burnt Chimney; three grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Velma Meador of Richmond. A graduate of Virginia Tech, he was a geologist for Solite Corporation. He later taught at Patrick Henry High School and Franklin County Junior High. In 1969 he took the required class and joined Brookside Laboratories. He was a consultant with Brookside for over 50 years. He enjoyed his work with farmers. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Burnt Chimney United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
