Listen to Obituary
Howard Noah Pendleton, age 86 of Rocky Mount died Saturday, October 8, 2016 after a long illness. We know he came face-to-face with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and love imagining the joy of reuniting with his wife of 63 years, Bettie. He cherished some of her last words, “I will be saving you a place”. Howard was a Korean Veteran, a member of Beulah Baptist Church and a Master Machinist working at Walker Foundry and retiring at Martin Processing. He loved his family, baseball and his Dodgers, RVing with his many friends to bluegrass festivals, his animals and farming his small farm. Mr. Pendleton was preceded in death by his parents, Cabel and Grace Sowder Pendleton; wife, Bettie Lynch Pendleton; sisters, Frances, Mary, Hilda, Maude; and brothers, Jake, Wiss and John. Surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Bob Basham, Rita and Charlie Thomas; son, Noah Pendleton; grandchildren, Gregg Ferguson (Shanna), Sarah Pendleton, Bobby Basham (Leslie), Christopher Pendleton; great-grandchildren, Audrey and Trey Basham, Isabel Pendleton and Eli Klos; sister, Carol Ferguson; brother, Frank Pendleton; many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society as a last honor to his wife, Bettie. Graveside services will be conducted from Franklin Memorial Park 2 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Melvin Harris officiating. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
