Howard Dalton Perdue, age 84 of Rocky Mount entered heaven on Saturday, September 15, 2012 to be reunited with his wife, Frances Perdue, who left his side on April 12, 2012. For 64 years they shared their hearts, not even death could keep them apart. Howard was the last surviving child of Lester Mark and Minnie Robertson Perdue. He confessed his belief and love for Christ at a young age and was a lifelong member of Redwood United Methodist Church. He was one of the most kind and gentle of men, with a thoughtful and practical view of life. He retired from Sprint at the age of 62 with 37 years of service. After retirement “PaPa” relished time spent with family, traveling with “Grandma”, and took a special joy in maintaining his lawn and garden. His legacy of hard work and Christian faith lives on in the lives of his daughters, Pat (Cris) Brown of Brandon, FL and Pam (James) Hutchinson of Rocky Mount. His gentle, kind and loving spirit will forever live in the hearts of his grandsons, Tim (Paula) Brown of Valrico, FL and Shannon (Mary Beth) Hutchinson of Roanoke, VA. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Tristan Brown, Taylor Brown, Gray Hutchinson; and expected great-granddaughter, Amelia Hutchinson; many other loving relatives and friends including special niece and nephew, Mitzi Smith and Dale Manning. Memorial services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday from Redwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Bradley S. Dulaney officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Redwood Methodist Church Building Fund or Franklin County Rescue Squad. His family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. Monday at Redwood United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
