Howard Earl Yopp

Howard E. Yopp, age 75 of Boones Mill went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 29, 2011 peacefully at home surrounded by loving family and friends. Born in Floyd, Va. on August 8, 1936 to the late Theodore Roosevelt and Cora Margaret Yopp, he was also preceded in death by his three sisters, Ethel Gibson, Louise Lynch, and Alice Beckner; and three brothers, Glen, John and Paul. Howard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sadie; children, Cynthia Stump (Junior), Tamara Jackson (Lewis), Jody Yopp (Tera), Jamie Yopp (Sherry); 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren, sister Faye Carter and brother Joe Yopp. Howard was a true outdoorsman and a hardworking man. He was a husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He touched the lives of many and maintained his wit and humor no matter the situation- most of the time he had a smile on his face. The family would like to give special thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice, especially Patty Paitsel and Pam McKnown. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Friday with Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Monte Vista Church of the Brethren Cemetery. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
