Hubert Wilson Mitchell

Hubert Wilson Mitchell, age 79 of Rocky Mount passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026. He was born July 30, 1947 to the late Lester Violet Mitchell and Minne Bowling Mitchell. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Nadine Meeks, Lena Young and Louise Hurt. Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Virgil Buck Mitchell; half-brother Jim (Nancy) Lamkin; sister, Frances Young; wife, Mary Dale Mitchell; daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer (Bruce) Martin, Kim (Michael) Caldwell, Lisa Harris; sons and daughters-in-law, Hubert Dale (Jessica) Mitchell, Roy Beckner, Michael (Terry) Beckner; grandchildren, Alyssa Mitchell, Dakota Mitchell, Jessica Rico, Logan Beckner, Seraphenia Caldwell, Jacoby Caldwell, Michael, Caldwell, Leland Carmichael; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special best friend, Robert Largin (Bobby Blue) whom he played in a band with called the Blue Jay Birds. He loved mowing grass and hauling junk. Hubert worked at Stanley Furniture and the  Lane Co.. He loved to play the harmonica, and blue grass music. He worked at the Shell Station, a job he really loved. Funeral services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel, 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2026 with Pastor John Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
