Ira Lee Culler, age 73 of Union Hall, departed this life Friday, February 15, 2013 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born September 11, 1939 to the late Ira Dewitt and Alvie Lee Cooper Culler. Ira Lee is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Robin Harrison Culler; son, Ira Lee Culler, Jr.; special step-son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Sharon Scott; daughter, Misty Leigh Culler; daughters and sons-in-Law, Pam and Owen Margolis and Lisa and Barry Frye; sister, Sarah Ann Culler Price and Glen Bennett; four grandchildren; two step-children; many dear nieces and nephews; and special friends, Lewis K. Law, Edmond “Doc” Law, and Bobby Zeigler. Ira Lee graduated from Franklin County High School in 1957 and attended Danville Technical Institute to study business. He soon took over his dad's company and became owner and operator of Hub Oil Company, Inc. for 46 years until retirement. He served in the 107th Artillery Brigade of the Virginia National Guard, was proud to be a life member of the Virginia Jaycees and even served as President of the Rocky Mount Chapter. He was a long term member of Rocky Mount Christian Church. He both sponsored and participated in a bowling league for many years and was an avid NASCAR and Virginia Tech Hokies fan. His greatest loves were his Lord and Savior, his family and friends, and Smith Mountain Lake. This is where he chose to build his home, raise his family, and spend his leisure time working on the land, boating and reading. Visitation will be held at Rocky Mount Christian Church on Tuesday night, February 19, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the church Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Matthew Ricks officiating. Burial will immediately follow at High Street Cemetery. The family respectfully requests that visits be restricted to services at the church and that no food be brought to the home. Memorial donations may be made to Rocky Mount Christian Church, 120 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, Va., 24151. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
