Iva Jean Pruitt of Moneta Virginia, went to her heavenly home August 18, 2017 in Brunswick, Ga. where she lived with her Granddaughter. She was born March 9, 1932 to the late Bosie Harris and Ruby Harris Pettrey. She is also preceded in death by her husband James E. Pruitt, her son, James E. Pruitt, Jr, her grandson, Adam Pruitt and her sister Linda Russell. She is survived by her two sons; Richard A. Pruitt and Michael (Faye) Pruitt both of Moneta; granddaughter, Melanie (Brian) Pruitt Bibby of Brunswick, GA; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Dianna Bibby of Brunswick, Ga; sister Barbara Pugh of Roanoke, VA; brother, Willard (Linda) Harris of Henderson, NV and several nieces and nephews.
Ms. Pruitt was retired from Tultex. She was a valued employee of Food Lion, Inc. in Moneta, until the age of 80 years old. She was a faithful member of Mt. Ivy Christian Church. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. Ms. Pruitt loved to travel and meeting new people, she never met a stranger. She enjoyed crafting hobbies and cooking.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525.
Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2017 with Steve Pasley, Minister and Pastor Melvin Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem UMC Cemetery in Moneta. Her family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
