James N. Montgomery III age 85, died Monday, October 18, 2010. He was a lifelong member of the Rocky Mount Presbyterian Church. He volunteered for the U.S. Army in 1943 at age 17, served two years in the European theater of operations, and learned what freedom meant to a nation when he was with a Russian, horse drawn, artillery battalion. Proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Via Jones Montgomery, daughter, Mary Margaret Montgomery, father and mother. He is survived by his daughter Susan Ann Montgomery, sister, Mrs. Josephine Wilkinson, niece, Rev. Mary Lee Warren, nephew, the Honorable Charles Warren, nephew, T. C. Wilkinson, Jr. and many special friends. In lieu of flowers or food please make a donation to Helping Hands, the Food Pantry, Soup Kitchen, Stepping Stones or a charity of your choice.
