On Monday, August 11, 2014 Jack Watson Blankenship, age 86 of Penhook was called home to be with his heavenly father. He was born in Danville, VA on January 28, 1928 to the late Mary Henderson and Donald Earl Blankenship. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Carlton and Dan Blankenship. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Barbara R. Blankenship; along with seven children, Jack W. Blankenship, Jr. (Debbie), Frances Wells (Charles) all of Emporia, VA, William W. Blankenship (Tammie) of Staunton, VA, Robert W. Arthur (Audrey), Deborah Hunt all of Penhook, VA, Tammy Haskins of Stephens City, VA, and Mary B. Eanes (Fred) of Halifax, VA. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel R. Reynolds (Cindy) and David O. Reynolds, Leone Blankenship; nieces, nephews, special pie baking aunt, Florence Wright; special friends, Earl Sturgill and Doug Law; his church family and friends. He loved to fellowship at Boones Chapel Church of the Brethren in Penhook. He will be greatly missed by everyone, especially his faithful companion, Red Dog. Visitation will be at Boones Chapel Church of the Brethren in Penhook on Thursday, August 14 from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral services will also be held at the church on Friday, August 15 at 2 pm with Pastor Mike Gallimore officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
