Jack Shelton Clinton Corn, beloved friend to many, an adored father, and a devoted and loving husband, passed on to his heavenly reward on July 26, 2012. Jack was born on May 11, 1920 in Gaston County, NC. He met his beautiful wife in Danville where he was employed at Kingoff’s Jewelry Store. He moved the family to Rocky Mount in 1963 to manage Haywood’s Jewelry Store. He later moved to Staunton to manage Glassner’s Jewelry Store. He was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church. He became an ordained minister in 1975 in Staunton where he preached at two churches every Sunday and managed Glassner’s Monday through Saturday. He moved back to Rocky Mount in the ‘80’s and was invited and became the full time pastor at Story Creek Baptist Church until he retired in his 80’s. He was preceded in death by his father James Jerome, mother Madge (Margaret) Poole Cohn, brother Teddy Lamar Cohn and sister-in-law Lois Corn. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Maude “Elizabeth” Corn; son-William Burton Corn; daughter-Jan (Jimmie) Hollie Killgore; brothers-William of Georgia and John Corn of Danville; sisters, Joyce Watson, Nancy Cassada, and Betty Price, all of Danville; grandchildren-Jeremy Killgore of Roanoke, Cassandra Corn and Alana (Calvin) Young of Rocky Mount; great grandchildren: Connor Anderson and Luke Corn; and nephew, James Corn of Georgia. Jack loved preaching, music, people, laughing, marrying couples and helping those in need. He loved God and loved his family. He always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. He was talented in music, musical instruments, singing, the arts and was very talented with great common sense. He was instrumental in establishing the Heavenly Manna Food Bank of Franklin County and served as President of the Retail Merchants Association and was on numerous other committees and boards in the county. Funeral services will be August 18, 2012 at the Story Creek Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. that day. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Services, Rocky Mount.
