Jackie Brown Guilliams, age 71 of Sydnorsville, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2009 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tiff and Alpha Guilliams; sister-in-law, Jean Guilliams; a dear brother-in-law and friend, Phillip Smith; and a brother-in-law, Bernard Young.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sara Ann Young Guilliams; a devoted daughter and son-in-law, Mandy Guilliams Brown and Colby Brown; two grandsons, Cooper Brown and Forrest Brown; his sister, Jo Anne Smith and brother, Buddy Guilliams. He also has left to cherish his memory, his sister-in-law, Betty Young; a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patsy and Johnny Smith; many nieces and nephews and good friends, Judy and Johnny Parcell.
Jackie loved the quietness of the outdoors and had a passion for hunting and training his bird dogs. He was a successful barber in Rocky Mount for 45 years where he made many life-long friends who say they felt better after joking and sharing stories with him. He dearly loved his family and will be sadly missed by family and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009 with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers and food, the family request memorials be made to a charity of your choice.
