HAMPTON - Jackie Joseph Causa Jr., 92, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2007.
He was born Jan. 23, 1915, in Bay St. Louis, Miss.
He entered the U.S. Army in Brownsville, Texas, on May 26, 1936, and retired on June 30, 1960, at Fort Eustis, Va. His military career spanned 24 years and included service in World War II and the Korean War. During his service to his country, he earned several ribbons and citations, including two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart.
Throughout his life, he found joy in helping others. His hobbies and interests included cooking, fishing, and taking care of family and friends.
Preceding him in rest are his wife, Ann Hodges Causa; sons, Michael Causa and Jackie Causa III; brother, Luke Causa; and sisters, Nita Cougot, Maria Demarco and Angelina Richter.
Surviving members of his family include his daughters, Terry Bommarito and husband, Tom, of O'Fallon, Mo., Sue Burk and husband, James, of Troy, Mo., Margaret Lorenzino and husband, Mark, of Bassett, Va., Trish Ferraro and husband, Nick, Kathy Cutler and husband, Glenn, Melinda Wales and husband, Mark, Jessica Burke and husband, J, all of Hampton, Va., and Janet Evans and husband, Ronnie, of Poquoson, Va.; sons, Sam Causa of Ridgeway, Va., and Alan Causa and wife, Beverly, of Griswald, Conn.; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service until 8:30 p.m. There will also be a funeral service held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Flora Funeral Services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at noon, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Franklin Memorial Park.
Floral arrangements are requested to be sent to Flora Funeral Services, 665 South Main St., Rocky Mount, VA 24151, for service being held in Rocky Mount.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Foodbank of the Peninsula, 9912 Hosier St., Newport News, VA 23601.
