James Keith Adkins

James Keith Adkins, age 68, of Penhook, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, March 25, 2023.  He was preceded in death by his daddy, James “Shorty” Adkins, his mother-in-law, Nancy Naff, his maternal and paternal grandparents, and his nephew, Zack Adkins.

Surviving are his wife, Mary, who he was happily married to for 47 ½ years, and his children, Jeremy (Kristie) and Mallory Fralin (Scottie), who loved him so much. He was a proud Papa & Pop to Rylan and Kylie Adkins, Parker, Tipton, Clayton, & Winston Fralin .  Also surviving are his mama, Shelby Adkins, his brother Stewart (Debra), his sisters Rhonda Robertson (Danny) and Trenda Pasley (Tim “Peanut”), his brother in-law, John Clifford Simms, aunts, uncles, and many nieces and nephews.

He retired from Times Fiber Communications in Chatham, VA after 43 years of service.  He most recently worked part-time at Duncan Ford in Rocky Mount.  During his years of working he made many special friends.

He was a loyal & dedicated member of Boones Chapel Church where he served as Chairman of the Board, a deacon, and sang in the church choir.  He enjoyed his time in fellowship with his church family and community friends.

Keith loved his family, his church, music , and sports.  But most importantly he loved God and had a strong desire to witness to the lost.

In lieu of flowers, he requested all donations be made to the Kidz Shine Bible Club at Boones Chapel Church so that all children have the opportunity to learn about Jesus.  (Donations can be mailed to Boones Chapel Church, 16405 Snow Creek Road, Penhook, VA  24137).

His family would like to thank Blue Ridge Cancer Center and Good Samaritan Hospice for taking such good care of him.  A special thanks to Dr. Mallidi and her team.

A celebration of life will be held at Boones Chapel Church, 2228 Circle Creek Road, Penhook, VA  on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM.  His family will receive friends on Monday, March 27, 2023 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Flora Funeral Service located at 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, VA.
