James Thomas Angell, age 73 of Callaway, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021 surrounded by his loving and devoted family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Bea Angell; brothers, Johnny, Bruce and Tracey Lee Angell; and in-laws, Dolph and Nina Browning. Surviving are his loving wife of 34 years, Myra Angell; sons, Jim Angell, Tim Angell (Lisa), Zack Hall (Renae); step-sons, Terry Smith (Libby), P.J. Smith (Martha), and Rodney Smith (Darlene). He was a very proud grandparent of Owen Angell and Abby Angell, Emilee Smith and Savanna Smith; also many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Wayne Angell (Faye), Romona Wright (Frank), Jean Jones (Vernon), Betty Jo Shively (Billy), Sarah Heckman (Dan), Stelia Wilbourn (Mark); sisters-in-law, Sharon Angell and Sue Angell; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Thomas was a lifelong resident of Callaway where he was the owner of A&A Market for 50 years. He was a proud Callaway Community Recreation Sports Sponsor and Coach for many years. Being the jack of all trades and a master of many, Thomas could fix anything and his family and friends always knew to call him. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2021 with Elder Jack Milliron and Rev. Bud Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in the Callaway Community Cemetery. His family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
