After a 51-year battle with Type 1 Diabetes, James “Jimmy” Richard Board, age 60 of Rocky Mount, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Franklin Health and Rehab, where he was a resident for the past few years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Polly and Junior Board. He is survived by his wife, Eileen Anderson Board; one adorable son, Kyle James Board, whom he loved dearly; two sisters, Susan Board Myers (Tom) and Nancy Board Flora (Gary); two brothers, Billy Board and Ken Board; mother-in-law, Ellen Anderson; brothers-in-law, Mark Anderson (Dianne), Kelly Anderson (Teresa), “Buck” Anderson, and Marty Anderson (girlfriend, Brooks); nieces and nephews, Travis and Kevin Board, Jared Flora, Melia Chitwood, Megan Summers, Craig Anderson, Kasey Anderson, Patrick Anderson, and Ryleigh; five great-nieces and three great-nephews. For many years, Jimmy raised beef cattle and worked as a licensed electrician. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank Franklin Health and Rehab for their care and concern. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
