James Taylor Broce, Sr.

James Taylor Broce, Sr., age 91 of Rocky Mount passed away Tuesday April 25, 2017. He was born February 19, 1926 and was preceded in death by his wife, Frances H. Broce; his father, Armand G. Broce and mother, Nona D. Broce; brothers, Albert A. Broce, George A. Broce and Norman E. Broce; sisters, Josephine B. Joiner, Clara K. Broce and Mary E. Broce; and son, James T. Broce, Jr. Surviving are his step-daughters, Sue D. Farris (Carl), Sandra D. Clements (Kevin); grandchildren, Robin Farris (Martha), Dillon Clements; two great-grandchildren, Isabelle Farris and Giuseppe Farris; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. James was a United States Veteran of World War II and retired from the Franklin County Public School System. Following his retirement he worked as an Insurance Agent. He was also a member of Fairview Church of the Brethren. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 7 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Jeff Wray officiating. The family respectfully request no food and in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to Fairview Church of the Brethren, c/o Tommy Young, 60 Belmont Drive, Rocky Mount VA 24151. His family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
