James Allen Brown

James Allen Brown, age 80 of Rocky Mount passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. James was a retired contractor and West Window dealer for a number of years, serving his friends and clients with A#1 Homes and the best vinyl replacement windows on the market. He was born to the late Dalton Lee (Boss) Brown and Geneva Parcell Brown in Franklin County. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Emma Anderson Brown, the only mother he remembered, as his mother died when he was a small child. Other family preceded in death were two brothers, Dalton Lewis Brown and George Booth Brown. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Jeanette Bradley Brown, his daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Jean and Don Hall, Janet Faye and David Gibson and Deborah Lynne and Willie Roberge, grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Joe and Valerie Brown, Michelin Hall and his husband Timothy Wooster, Ashley Hall (Ashley Dignam), great-granddaughters and grandsons, Adelynn Brown, Rylan Brown and Ames Hall, sisters and brothers-in-law, Ada Wray, Jean and Clyde Mullins, Merle and Billy Eames, Jerry and Butch Foster, Lou and Charles Lynch, Brenda and Roger Franklin, sisters-in-law, Betty Brown and Linda Brown, also many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018 with Rev. David Slayton officiating. Interment will follow in the Brown Cemetery. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
