James Roy Divers, age 88 of Rocky Mount, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2009.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Jarve Divers and Elsie Holland Divers; his brothers, Harry Lee Divers, John Thomas Divers; and grandson, Robert Steven Bratton.
He retired from General Electric Company and was a longtime member of Rocky Mount Christian Church.
Mr. Divers is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bettina Davis Divers; daughter, Bettina Divers Bratton; son, James Arthur (Clementine) Divers; four grandchildren, Daphne Divers (Eric) Tilley, Melissa Susan Divers, Jennifer Bratton (Tom) Fox, James Clarke (Rachael) Butler; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Eva Divers Sowder; and furry friend, Gina.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Wednesday with Elder Doug Shearer and Rev. Jody Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
The family request that memorial donations be made to Carilion Hospice of Franklin County, 390 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151.
His family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
