James E. (Thumb-Cathead) Hodges, age 72 of Rocky Mount died Wednesday, January 6, 2016. He was preceded in death by parents, Ben and Elsie Hodges; and brother, Jerry Cleo Hodges. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, John and Michelle Hodges; grandson, Michael Hodges; step-grandchildren, Jamie Chambers and Andrew Chambers; sisters, Brenda Arrington, Marie Hodges, Mary Jo Hodges (Terry); several nieces and nephews; special niece, Addison Campbell; and too many friends to mention. He retired from VDOT with 40 years of service and was a member of Henry Fork Church of the Brethren. Funeral services will be conducted from Henry Fork Church of the Brethren 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
