James J. Hussey

James J. Hussey, Sr., age 79 of Rocky Mount went to be with the Lord Monday, January 17, 2011 at his home with his wife of 55 years at his side. He was born July 31, 1931, in Bridgeport, CT to the late James and Edna Hussey. He graduated from Bassick High School in 1949. James served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. On May 12, 1956 he was united in marriage to Bernadette Linane. After being discharged from the military, James spent most of his life as a mechanic and he was an avid Ford enthusiast. In 1993 James and Bernadette relocated to West End, NC, and later made their final home in Rocky Mount, VA. James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Edna Hussey; a sister, Dorothy Fodor; his son, James J. Hussey, Jr. James is survived by his wife, Bernadette; his daughter-in-law, Dawn Hussey of Colchester, CT; daughter, Cheryl and husband Joe Pala of Troutville, VA; daughter, Paula and husband David Cannon of Monroe, CT; son, Patrick M. Hussey of Naugatuck, CT; son, Jeff and Michelle Hussey of Rocky Mount, VA; daughter, Maureen(MO) and husband Terry Arrington of Moneta, VA; twelve grandchildren, Jessica and Michael Hussey, Kyla and James Cannon, Alicia, Patrick and Corinna Hussey, Jordan Ransome, Hayden, Holden, Gracie, and Emily Arrington. James is also survived by several nieces, nephew and most of all by his beloved companion Maggie. Funeral Services will be conducted from Francis of Assisi Catholic Church 10 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011 with Father Louis Benoit officiating. Inurnment will be at Resurrection Catholic Church Cemetery at a later date. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
