James R. Hutchinson

James R. Hutchinson, 82, of Glade Hill, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 10, 2008. He was the only child of the late Frank and Janie Hutchinson. Jim devoted his life to his family and his church, Glade Hill Baptist, where he was a life long member and served as Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and many other positions throughout the years. He was a World War II veteran and retired from Lane Company in 1991. Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Frances H. Hutchinson. Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Charles (Fran) of Vinton, and James Jr. (Pam) of Rocky Mount; two daughters, Nancy (Don) Mitchell of Roanoke and Ann (Posey) Dillon of Rocky Mount; three grandsons, Charles A. Hutchinson, Jr., Jeff (Donna) Hutchinson and Shannon (Mary Beth) Hutchinson; one granddaughter Becky (Josh) Holland; and one great-granddaughter Kaytlynn Holland. A special thank you to his devoted brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bill and JoEmma Houston for their faithful weekly visits, and to his neighbor Bennie Fuller for always being there for him. Funeral services will be conducted from Glade Hill Baptist Church 11:00 a.m. Friday with Rev. David Long officiating. Interment will follow in the Hutchinson Family Cemetery at the church. His family will receive friends at Glade Hill Baptist Church Thursday from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Glade Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o 6627 Colonial Turnpike, Glade Hill, VA 24092.
