James Junior Meeks

James Junior Meeks, age 85 of Rocky Mount died Wednesday, April 2, 2014. He was born November 12, 1928, a son of the late Lewis and Gladys Meeks. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Virginia Meeks. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Donna Meeks; granddaughter, Kim Palmer; great-grandchildren, Ashley Brubaker, Jamey Palmer and Brandon Brubaker; sister, Viola Turner; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rev. Wilbern and Martha Sue Meeks, Albert and Sue Meeks, Edward Meeks, Shelbern and Ann Meeks; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Marie Overfelt, Mary Mullins, Shirley and Paul James; special friends, Mildred and Ray Jarrells; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Meeks was a lifelong member of Oak Grove Church of the Brethren and retired from E.I. Dupont with many years of service. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Richard Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Oak Grove Church of the Brethren. The family respectfully requests no food. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
