James (Jim) Whitton Milne, Jr., age 63 departed his earthly home to be with his Heavenly Father on September 16, 2008.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James W. Milne, Sr. and Nancy H. Milne; his father-in-law Claude “Mike” Ellis.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Ellis Milne; one son, James “Whitt” Milne III of Roanoke, VA; his mother-in-law Ruth C. Ellis of Rocky Mount, VA; his brother-in-law and wife Harold H. and Marion Ellis of Snow Creek, VA; sister-in-law and husband Linda E. Wilson and David Wilson of Richmond, VA; several nieces and nephews, and two great-nieces.
Jim was a graduate of Greenbrier Military School and Virginia Tech, was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he was a rotor wing pilot and he retired from the Virginia Department of Taxation.
Graveside services will be conducted from Franklin Memorial Park 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2008, with Rev. Jim Rivers officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Christian Church, 344 Church Ave., S.W., Roanoke, VA 24016.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
