James Louis Perdue

James Louis (Pete) Perdue, age 90 of Boones Mill passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife Lera Young Perdue; parents, Wade H. Perdue and Myrtle Showalter Perdue; his brothers, Clinton W. Perdue, Alvin G. Perdue. Surviving are his daughters, Kathy Perdue Watts, Marilyn Perdue Merle and husband Ronald; granddaughter, Stephanie B. Lane and husband, Scott; sisters, Rachel Mowbray and Mildred Huffman (Waymouth); sisters-in-law, Ila P. Perdue and Minnie Young Sweeney; special great-nephew, Malcolm Perdue; special friends, Buck King and Jeff Lee; along with other nieces and nephews; his beloved cat and herd of cows. Pete was a hard working man and continued to farm until the last day. He never met a stranger and touched the lives of many. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Saturday with Elder W.T. Conner and Elder Junior Conner officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
