James Harold "Shorty" Austin, Jr., age 84 of Rocky Mount died Wednesday, October 25, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Austin, Sr. and Vennie Hylton Austin; two brothers, Rodger and Clinton Austin; and sisters, Frances Sledd and Adelle East. Surviving are his children, Jennifer, Jeff, Bradley; several grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Franklin and Glenda Peters; brother, Larry Austin (Drema); numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be private. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
