James "Jim" Thomas Pierce, Sr.

James “Jim” Thomas Pierce, Sr., age 87 of Boones Mill passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023. He was born November 2, 1935 to the late Andy and Nannie Pierce and was also preceded in death by his brothers, William Pierce, Charlie Pierce, Sr. (Corrine), Lloyd Pierce (Christine), Doug “Junior” Pierce, Bill Pierce (Barbara); sisters, Agnes Pierce, Pearl Smith (Vernon), Ellen Sandefor (Bob) and Jackie Price (Lewis). He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mabel Irene Pierce; his children and stepchildren, James “Jimmy” T. Pierce, Jr. (C.J.), Jackie Wynette Pierce, Patricia Ann Adkins (Bucky), Mark Dwayne Casaday (Brenda); grandchildren, Zachary Pierce (Anna), Stacie Hicks, Gina Pickard (Stan), Angie Casaday, Timothy Thompson (Dreama), Christie Wright (Duayne); along with 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Jeff Pierce (Mary), Bobby Pierce (Sheila); numerous nieces and nephews. Jim worked in several positions beginning with Pepsi Company as a driver, then at EATON Corporation as a factory worker and retiring from Cooper Wood Incorporated as a night watchman. Following retirement, he volunteered with Heavenly Manna for five years. He was also a United States Army Veteran and member of Clearbrook Baptist Church in Roanoke, VA. The family requests in lieu of food and flowers, please make a donation to your local church or food bank. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2023 with Pastor Bryan Ratliff officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
